Zambia – 2021 World Press Freedom Day #PostForThePress

THE 2021 WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY COMMEMORATION

Lusaka, Zambia. May 3, 2021 — The Media Liaison Committee, through its World Press Freedom Day local organising committee, is pleased to announce to all journalists, media institutions and other stakeholders that we shall physically commemorate this year’s event on May 3. In Lusaka, the commemoration will also involve a marchpast from the High Court grounds to the Freedom Statue.

The commemorations will also be held in all provincial centres. This year’s theme is: Information as a public good, and we expect all media practitioners to translate this message effectively.

We further wish to inform all stakeholders that this year’s event will be graced by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu as our guest of honour; and he will march with the media.

We are very much alive to the limitations caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, so we strongly advise all stakeholders to mask up and take other precautionary health measures as advised by the Ministry of Health.
