Warner Bros.’ “Kong:Skull Island” delivers a punch at the U.S. box office, landing at top spot in its opening weekend.
(WARNER BROS.) – Warner Bros.’ “Kong:Skull Island” scaled to the top of the weekend box office in the United States with a strong haul of $61 million in it’s first showing at theaters across the country,according to boxofficemojo.com. The film reboots the classic giant ape franchise and stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.
Down one spot from last week, “Logan” added an estimated $37.85 million this weekend, while Jordan Peele’s thriller, “Get Out”, settled for third place with a draw of $21 million.
Lionsgate’s The Shack finished in fourth position with an estimated $10 million, pushing “The Lego Batman Movie” to fifth place at the weekend box office with an estimated $7.8 million in ticket sales.
