“Thor” smashes competition again at weekend box office

(WALT DISNEY PICTURES/MARVEL STUDIOS) – “Thor: Ragnarok” smashed the competition at the North American weekend box office from Friday (November 10) through Sunday (November 12). Having already grossed more than $496 million worldwide, the film took in an additional $56.6 million on its second weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

Taking second place on its debut weekend, “Daddy’s Home 2,” starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, earned $30 million. The sequel follows a pair of dads and granddads who are determined to have the perfect Christmas.

Also new this week, “Murder on the Orient Express” came in third with $28.2 million. The movie, which follows 13 passengers stranded on a train while a murder investigation unfolds, features an all-star cast, including: Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Holding over from previous weeks, “A Bad Moms Christmas” and “Jigsaw” rounded out the top five, taking in $11.5 million and $3.4 million, respectively.
