Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt dies in Spain, aged 68.
LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (REUTERS) – Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt died in Spain aged 68, his manager said in a statement on Saturday (December 24).
He died from an infection after he was hospitalised on Thursday.
“We are truly devastated to have to announce that Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt has passed away at lunchtime today (Saturday),” the statement said. “He died in hospital in Marbella, Spain, as a result of a severe infection, having been admitted to hospital on Thursday evening following complications to a shoulder injury incurred by a previous fall.”
Status Quo enjoyed global success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits including ”Rockin’ All Over the World” and “Whatever You Want”.
