(ITN) – London’s revelers took in mostly clear skies for the start of the Notting Hill Carnival, as youngsters enjoyed Family Day, the kick-off to the two day long celebration.
More than a million people are expected to take to the streets for the festival, Europe’s biggest street carnival, held every August Bank Holiday in London since 1966.
The festivities celebrate the history of west London’s Afro-Caribbean culture and residents, with brightly colored parades and floats.
The main event is on Monday.
The forecast calls for rain, but that’s not likely to dampen the spirit of these performers and spectators.
