Adele broke her Grammy award for best album in half in tribute to fellow singer Beyonce
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (FEBRUARY 12, 2017) (REUTERS PICTURES) – Adele concluded her Album of the Year acceptance speech at the Grammys in an unusual way on Sunday (February 12) – she broke her award in half.
The star won five Grammys on the night, accepting awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Hello,” and Album of the Year for “25.”
The singer used her speech for the album award to say that singer Beyoncé, who was nominated in the same category for her album “Lemonade,” should have won instead.
Beyoncé was nominated for nine awards overall, but only managed to pick up two ― Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video for “Lemonade.”
