Penzaboy management continues their search on signing the most talented upcoming musicians in Zambia to promote on international markets to showcase the best of Zambia’s music industry by signing one of Zambia’s best-kept secret, the ghostwriter to some of your favourite rappers and singers in Zambia, Nina Simms who’s an amazingly talented sing-song writer and rapper.
Nina Simms said, “I have always had a passion for music, I grew up listening to Tupac, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Ne-yo, so I was always singing around the house and writing lyrics at the back of my school books.”
Nina Simms started rapping when she was in the 11th grade at the young age of 15 years when she would hang out with her brother and his friends who were in a rap group called “After Party” popular in the suburbs of Lusaka and one day they asked her to rap on one of their songs that was a smash on the local scene and motivated her to keep on writing more songs not only for herself but also for others that she became a well known but secret ghostwriter to some of the biggest musicians in Zambia. When asked about who’s she’s written, unfortunately for legal reasons, she couldn’t disclose such information so I guess we would have to wait for her new music to give us clues.
You can find some of Nina Simms unofficial released music on SoundCloud like “Still Running” or “Tipping In The Club (Remix)” just to give you a taste of what’s to come.
Penzaboy management does seem to be interested in giving upcoming musicians the opportunities that some of their peers still don’t have by giving them the education and resources to take their musicians into international superstars, only time will tell to see where their ambition will take them.
