Former “Two and A Half Men” star Charlie Sheen said on Tuesday he is HIV positive and was diagnosed about four years ago. Linda So reports.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (NOVEMBER 17, 2015) (REUTERS) – Charlie Sheen is HIV positive.
The 50-year-old actor made the announcement in a television interview on NBC’s “Today” show saying, quote, “It’s a hard three letters to absorb.”
The former “Two and A Half Men” star says he was diagnosed four years ago after suffering from terrible headaches, migraines, and severe night sweats.
Sheen says he’s been the victim of extortion, paying millions of dollars to people who have threatened to go public with his condition.
But after Tuesday’s announcement, the actor says he will not be paying those people anymore.
Sheen had a reputation for his bad behavior that included cocaine-fueled partying with porn stars.
The three times divorced actor says he’s not sure how he contracted the virus, but maintains he told all his sexual partners that he was HIV positive and he’s absolutely certain he did not transmit the virus to anyone.
