April 20, 2023 \/Legal\/ — If you were a Facebook user in the United States between May 2007 and December 2022, you may be eligible to receive a share of a $725 million settlement between Facebook and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The settlement resolves allegations that Facebook violated the FTC’s privacy law by failing to adequately protect the privacy of its users.
\n<\/p>\n

To claim your share of the settlement, you must submit a claim form by August 25, 2023. You can find the claim form on the FTC’s website<\/a>. The claim form asks for your name, address, date of birth, and Facebook account information. You will also need to provide a copy of your government-issued ID.<\/p>\n

The FTC will review all claims and distribute the settlement funds to eligible users. The amount of money you receive will depend on how many people submit claims and how long you had an active Facebook account during the relevant period.<\/p>\n

It is important to note that the settlement does not require you to give up any legal rights. You may still be able to sue Facebook separately for any damages you suffered as a result of the company’s privacy violations.<\/p>\n
