It was launched in July 2022 by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, and it has since been endorsed by France, Zambia, and other countries.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative calls for a number of reforms, including:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Increased funding for climate change adaptation and mitigation.<\/strong>\u00a0Developing countries need more money to adapt to the effects of climate change, such as sea level rise and more extreme weather events. They also need more money to invest in clean energy and other measures to reduce their emissions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More flexible financing terms.<\/strong>\u00a0Developing countries often face high interest rates and other unfavorable terms when they borrow money from international financial institutions.
