The confusion may have arisen because Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, once owned an emerald mine in Zambia. However, Elon Musk has never lived in Zambia and has never claimed Zambian citizenship.<\/p>\n

Errol Musk, the father of Elon Musk, once owned half of an emerald mine in Zambia. He bought the mine in the 1980s for \u00a340,000, funded by selling an airplane for \u00a380,000. The mine was located near Lake Tanganyika, and it was reportedly very profitable.<\/p>\n

Errol Musk has said that the mine helped to fund his family’s lavish lifestyle, which included yachts, skiing holidays, and expensive computers. He has also said that the mine played a role in Elon Musk’s development, as it gave him exposure to wealth and opportunity at a young age.<\/p>\n

However, the existence of the mine has been disputed by Elon Musk. In a 2018 interview with Rolling Stone, Elon Musk said that his father’s claim to have owned an emerald mine was “a made-up story.” He also said that he had never seen any emeralds from the mine, and that he had never been to Zambia.<\/p>\n

The truth about Errol Musk’s emerald mine is likely somewhere in between the two extremes. It is possible that the mine did exist, but that it was not as profitable as Errol Musk has claimed. It is also possible that Elon Musk was exaggerating when he said that he had never seen any emeralds from the mine.<\/p>\n
