REUTERS\/Dado Ruvic<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<div>\n<p>Creators interviewed by Proof News felt cheated. &#8220;\u201cNo one came to me and said, \u2018We would like to use this,\u2019\u201d David Pakman, the host of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thomsonreutersfoundation.cmail20.com\/t\/d-l-eddkto-jhkldtildl-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thomsonreutersfoundation.cmail20.com\/t\/d-l-eddkto-jhkldtildl-i\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1721652074416000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2MP7vjDSMCUG_xaJ6rFQjk\">The David Pakman Show,<\/a>\u201d a left-leaning politics channel, told Proof News.<\/p>\n<p>The dataset is part of a compilation called the Pile, which also includes material from the European Parliament, English Wikipedia, and a trove of Enron Corporation employees\u2019 emails that was released as part of a federal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>YouTube Subtitles and other types of speech to text data are potentially a \u201cgold mine,\u201d said AI policy researcher Jai Vipra, because they can help train models to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thomsonreutersfoundation.cmail20.com\/t\/d-l-eddkto-jhkldtildl-d\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thomsonreutersfoundation.cmail20.com\/t\/d-l-eddkto-jhkldtildl-d\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1721652074416000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0D5f1xbphE0SjOb1DJZt0x\">replicate how people talk and converse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYouTube\u2019s terms cover direct use of its platform, which is distinct from use of The Pile dataset.
