Taylor Swift claims Kim Kardashian’s release of ‘Famous’ phone call ‘character assassination’.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (FILE -FEBRUARY 8, 2015) (UNRESTRICTED POOL) – U.S. musician Taylor Swift has released an online statement on Monday (July 18) criticising the release of a phone call she had with rapper Kanye West.
West’s wife, socialite Kim Kardashian West, posted a Snapchat video of her husband appearing to speak to Swift on a speakerphone.
West appears to inform Swift that he was referring to her in his controversial new song ‘Famous’ in which he refers to her as ‘that bitch’.
The voice which is apparently Swift’s is then heard saying that she appreciates Kanye telling her about the reference and that it can be regarded as ‘tongue-in-cheek’.
The hashtag #KimExposedTaylorParty trended on Twitter for a number of hours since the release of the Snapchat video.
But Swift has since responded with an online statement criticising the video and calling it ‘character assassination’.
She said, ‘You cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard’ and that she has been ‘falsely painted as a liar’.
