Chanel takes to the skies at Paris fashion week

(EVO) – Chanel reignited the glamour of the jet age on Tuesday (October 6) recreating an airport departure lounge for its latest pret-a-porter collection which sparkled with silver.

The queues of stressed holiday-makers were replaced by hordes of the fashion world’s jetset and the departure board was as international as the crowd with destinations from Dallas to Seoul giving a nod to the brand’s global audience. Making an appearance was model and Chanel star Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, and Cara Delevingne who sat in the spotless terminal opposite a sign marked “Gate No 5”.

The collection was a million miles from the comfort wear normally associated with long haul travel — a double breasted pink and green checked jumpsuit sported by Edie Campbell opened the show. Before hitting the runway, models packed Chanel’s own take on the small wheelie suitcase with a quilted finish — dubbed “Coco cases” by Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld. Appropriately, Kendall Jenner hid behind a pair of huge orange aviators as she hit the catwalk in a blue and white suit and transparent heels. Fashion week runs until Wednesday.
