Northern India reverberates with joyful sounds as it marks World Laughter Day

MORADABAD, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA (MAY 06, 2017) (ANI) – A school in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state celebrated World Laughter Day on Saturday (May 06), a day ahead of the rest of the world.

Children wearing animal masks laughed heartily during the morning assembly and attended classes with the happy-faced masks ahead of World Laughter Day on Sunday (May 07).

Even the students were thrilled to be dressed up as clowns and teaching people what a smile can do.

A school teacher said through this exercise, the children wanted to give the message of spreading smiles to live a healthy life.

World Laughter day is celebrated throughout the world on the first Sunday of the month of May each year. This day is a gentle reminder to society that laughter is indeed the best medicine to ward off the monotony of modern day mechanised lifestyles.

World Laughter Day was initiated in 1998 in India by Dr Madan Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga, which is a unique approach to wellbeing that imbibes laughter as part of a complete workout.
