The third place finish moved di Grassi into the top spot in the Formula E overall season standings with 75 points to Piquet, Jr’s 74 points and e.dams Renault driver Nicolas Prost’s 69 points.

Held on March 30, 1980 at a similar Long Beach track, the Formula One United States West Grand Prix was won by Nelson Piquet senior in a Brabham-Ford BT49 that was powered by a Ford Cosworth V8 gasoline engine.

The all electric car series now heads to Monaco for the seventh race of the inaugural Formula E season on May 9.
