Widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of modern Africa, the memoir of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda is a personal recollection of major events in the life, the time and the work.
At ninety-five, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda reflects on his public and private life, from his early years as a son of an early African missionary and teacher in the 1940s, through the struggle against colonial rule in the 1950s and leading Zambia to independence in 1964 and becoming first president of Zambia until 1991 and the founding member and patriarch of the Pan-Africanist Movement. As freedom fighter and anti-apartheid leader, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda persistently supported the liberation struggle in various countries in the sub-region.
A gifted musician, sportsman, humanitarian and author, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda still lives up to his legacy and continues to have a positive impact on the people of Zambia, Africa and beyond. Kaunda was married to the love of his life Beatrice Banda who passed away in 2012 and they were blessed with eight children.
