NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope launched at 7:20 a.m. EST Saturday on an Ariane 5 rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, South America. A joint effort with ESA (European Space Agency) and the Canadian Space Agency, the Webb observatory is NASA’s revolutionary flagship mission to seek the light from the first galaxies in the early universe and to explore our own solar system, as well as planets orbiting other stars, called exoplanets. NASA releases photos from Apollo missions
IN SPACE (NASA) – Space enthusiasts got a special treat this week as NASA released more than 11,000 photos from its Project Apollo Archive, the vast majority of which feature pictures taken during the lunar missions. NASA posted the photos on the Project Apollo Archive Flickr account, and they span from the first manned test flight in 1968, Apollo 7, to NASA’s last lunar mission, Apollo 17, in 1972.
