Using solar technology, the bags are powered during the day and light up homes which are either not connected to the national power grid or are in the dark because of frequent electricity cuts.

Street lights powered by solar and wind energy to light up Barcelona

BARCELONA, SPAIN (REUTERS/UPC) – Barcelona’s beach is being lit up with new-look street lights.

The six innovative lamp posts are each fitted with two solar panels, a wind turbine and a battery.

As a result, the environmentally-friendly lights generate enough energy to run for ten hours overnight.
