(Next Media Online) – Messaging app Snapchat has released sunglasses that record video.
Snapchat Spectacles include a camera with a 115-degree-angle lens, the Verge reported.
The lens is wider than the camera on regular smartphones and closer to the eyes’ natural field of view. The wearer taps a button to begin recording, and a light indicates to others that the camera is filming.
The camera on Snapchat Spectacles films circular videos in 10-second increments. Video can be played back vertically or horizontally, and crops automatically to fit the screen.
The company, which was recently renamed Snap Inc., said it will make a limited number of Snapchat Spectacles. They will come in black, teal and coral, and retail for about $130.
