Eight people are killed after two containers filled with fireworks explode in Amman, according to the Civil Defence forces.
AMMAN, JORDAN (OCTOBER 26, 2015) (JORDAN TV) – Eight people were killed and more than a dozen were injured on Monday (October 26) after two containers filled with fireworks exploded in Amman, said Jordan’s Civil Defence Department.
The explosion took place in the yard of Jordan’s Customs Department where two trucks carrying fireworks had parked. Plumes of thick black smoke were seen rising from the explosion site as firefighters tried to contain the roaring flames.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour has requested a committee to investigate the causes of the fire, adding that the import of fireworks is illegal in Jordan.
