Indian student killed in the US, family seeks government help

An Indian student from southern city of Hyderabad is shot dead by some unidentified men in the United States on dispute over an iPhone, say relatives of victim.

HYDERABAD, TELANGANA, INDIA (JUNE 14, 2015) (ANI) – An Indian student from southern city of Hyderabad was shot dead by some unidentified men in the United States on dispute over an iPhone, said relatives of the victim on Sunday (June 14).

Twenty three year old Sai Kiran Goud was killed when he refused to give his iPhone which was demanded by the assailants.

Father of Sai, Hari Goud, received the news about his son’s death on Sunday afternoon from his friends.

“He had gone down. The ‘Negros’ had asked for his iPhone. When he refused to give his phone they shot him,” said Hari Goud.

On Sunday, neighbours in a state of shock gathered outside Sai’s residence. Heartbroken relatives said they sought government’s action to bring back his body for final rites.

“We are expecting Telangana government to help us to bring our child as early as possible,” said Sai’s uncle, Sravan Kumar.

Sai had gone to Florida one-and-a-half-month ago to pursue his higher education.

The attack has raised concerns on security of Indians in the US. Last month, two robbers shot dead 28-year old Malav Desai in Florida and fled with his money.
