LONDON, ENGLAND, UK (APRIL 27, 2017) (REUTERS) – British police said on Thursday (April 27) a man carrying knives had been arrested on Whitehall, the street home to numerous government ministries in central London, and was being detained under anti-terrorism laws.

The 27-year-old man was detained by counter-terrorism officers on Parliament Street, a stone’s throw from the UK parliament building and May’s Downing Street office, during a stop and search as part of an ongoing operation, London police said.

London’s police force said they knew of no immediate further threat as a result of the arrest, and said counter-terrorism officers were continuing their investigation.
