Off-duty officer posted alcohol photo before NYC wrong-way crash

USA (Next Media) – A car carrying three off-duty New Jersey police officers collided head-on with a tractor-trailer on a Staten Island highway on Friday, killing one officer and another person in the car.

Three off-duty police officers and a friend had been to a strip club on Staten Island before the deadly accident, Wall Street Journal reported.

One of the officers posted a photo that appeared to show three liquor-filled glasses and mentioned a toast with others on the Internet hours before the crash, according to Wall Street Journal.

The officers drove the wrong way on the West Shore Expressway. One tractor-trailer managed to avoid their car but a second tractor-trailer collided head-on with the officers’ car, New York Times reported.

One officer and the friend were killed in the accident while two other officers and the driver of the tractor-trailer were injured. Authorities are investigating whether the officers had been drinking before the accident, Wall Street Journal reported.
