(ITN) – The fierce winds from Storm Angus – no match for some.

The U.K.’s first named storm of the season is battering Britain’s south coast with winds reaching 80 miles per hour.

People struggled to keep their footing – as the storm also dumped heavy rains triggering flood warnings in the area.

The unrelenting winds snapped wires, brought down traffic lights and toppled trash bins.

The dangerous conditions forcing the cancellation of several events.

“It’s absolutely crazy weather this morning. We’ve come down for the Brighton 10k (10 kilometer race) this morning which unfortunately has been canceled.”

“But feeling the weather walking eastwards is really, really strong winds so I’m possibly not regretting that it’s been canceled.”

Despite the harsh conditions, some couldn’t stay away, braving the elements to get a closer look at the fury of Storm Angus.
