Hillary Clinton on Oregon shooting: need the political will for sensible gun control laws

U.S. Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, responding to a mass shooting at a college in Oregon, says the political will must be found to craft sensible gun control laws.

DORCHESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES (OCTOBER 01, 2015) (RESTRICTED POOL) – Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Thursday (October 01) decried the shooting at a community college in Oregon in which at least 13 people were killed, noting that incidents like it happen “again and again and again.”

She said the political will must be found to formulate gun control laws that protect the public.

“We have got to get the political will to do everything we can to keep people safe. You know, I know there is a way to have sensible gun control measures that help prevent violence, prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands, and save lives,” Clinton said, following a campaign event in Massachusetts.

The shooting is the latest incident of gun violence in the United States, raising demands for more gun control and more effective treatment of the mentally ill.
