Flags, and a few fists, fly at pro-Trump rallies

Trump supporters held ‘Spirit of America’ rallies in 28 states Saturday, mostly peaceful gatherings in support of the U.S. Commander in Chief – marred, mostly notably, by brawls in the famously liberal city of Berkeley, California. Lisa Bernhard reports.

(CBS) – They were called ‘Spirit of America’ rallies – in some cities much more ‘spirited’ than in others.

Pro-Trump rallies held in 28 states Saturday… mostly peaceful gatherings in support of the U.S. Commander in Chief.

TRUMP SUPPORTER: ‘Giving the small people of America, the people that have been left behind by the rest of this government for so long – giving us the power to reach out to the president and have him have our voice…’

But some met with resistance –

The biggest flair-up coming in the famously left-leaning city of Berkeley, California against black-clad Trump opponents –

Bloodshed after a free-for-all of fight after fight, with folks from both sides striking each other with wooden sticks and Trump supporters firing pepper spray…

Police standing by in riot gear, eventually making five arrests.

A scuffle also erupting at the Minnesota State Capitol after counter-protesters crashed that pro-Trump party… six arrests made.

The rallies not drawing more than a few hundred people in most cities – including Trump’s hometown of New York – where supporters tried not to be drowned out by sounds of dissent outside Trump Tower.

Trump himself not inside – nor was he this guy in D.C. [TRUMP IMPERSONATOR; ‘It’s incredible!’) – but waving to fans in Palm Beach, Florida, where he spent the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
