Imperial College London students excited by Xi’s forthcoming visit

China Central Television (CCTV) – With Chinese President Xi Jinping scheduled to make a stop at Imperial College London (ICL) on Wednesday, Chinese students at the college have been excitedly preparing to welcome the president.

“Xi Dada (President Xi’s popular nick name in China), welcome!” said student Matthew speaking in Chinese, before adding: “I’ve spent about seven months in Beijing studying and absolutely loved it. And I know that Chinese people are very excited to have Xi Dada in the UK, as are the Brits. I think it’s going to be a really interesting few days and we’re all looking forward to it.”

The leader of the ICL branch of Chinese Students & Scholars Association in UK (CSSAUK) Cheng Tianyu said that the over 2,000 Chinese students at Imperial College London are very excited about President Xi’s visit. “We will be waiting for his arrival at the gate early tomorrow morning,” he said.

Cheng added that the CSSAUK arranged a special China-UK science cooperation meeting last Saturday to ensure projects can be succesfully implemented, finding ways for Chinese scholars to serve their nation in the fields of science and technology.
