Pyongyang marks 45th anniversary of July 4th joint statement

PYONGYANG, NORTH KOREA (JULY 4, 2017) (KCNA FOR REUTERS) – A conference was held in Pyongyang on Tuesday (July 4) to mark the 45th anniversary of a joint statement signed between North and South Korea on July 4th.

Video provided to Reuters by North Korea’s official news agency, KCNA, which Reuters cannot independently verify, showed people attending a meeting at the People’s Culture Palace in the capital.

The July 4th Statement set up basic guidelines for inter-Korea talks, and was the first inter-Korean agreement in 27 years after the two Koreas were divided in 1945, according to Seoul’s Yonhap news agency.
