Staff member hid in closet after hearing gunshots – relative

The brother of a woman who was at the San Bernardino social services office where where a mass shooting occurred says he received a text from his sister saying she is hiding in a closet.

SAN BERNADINO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (DECEMBER 2, 2015) (NBC) – Anxious relatives waited near a police perimeter for update on their family members who were inside the complex where a mass shooting took place on Wednesday (December 2).

“I’m really scared for my sister,” Mario Gradias said. He said he received a text message from his sister earlier.

“She just said there was a shooting she’s scared, she’s hiding in a closet with two other people.”

The father of a woman who was inside the building said he’d just heard that his daughter was alive.

“She’s safe,” he said. He said he felt “relieved, but sad for the others.”

Police searched on Wednesday for up to three suspects in the shooting of as many as 20 people, some of them fatally, at a social services agency for the developmentally disabled in the Southern California city of San Bernardino, authorities said.

MSNBC also reported that law enforcement authorities had confirmed the three deaths.

The San Bernardino Fire Department said in a Twitter post that it was responding to reports of 20 victims. San Bernardino is some 60 miles (100 km) east of Los Angeles.
