Global Islamic Counter-Terrorism Conference opens

The 4 days Global Islamic Counter-Terrorism Conference opens with a message from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman: protect the image of Muslims across the world from the harm caused by terrorism.

MECCA, SAUDI ARABIA (FEBRUARY 22, 2015)(REUTERS) – The 4 days Global Islamic Counter-Terrorism Conference kicked off today February 22 in Mecca,organized by The Muslim World League (MWL) with participation of more than 700 participants ,academics ,officials from Islamic centers and societies across the world such as the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Egypt and the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia and heads of Islamic departments ,associations, Ministers, muftis, scholars and researchers from all countries, as well as people who have lived the counter-terrorism experience .

The opening ceremony of the conference was by the governor of Mecca Prince Khaled Al-Faisal under the title of “Islam and the Campaign Against Terror.”

Conference participants will discuss the root causes of terrorism and will formulate a comprehensive plan to combat it as well as seek to agree on a clear definition of terrorism.

The conference will examine the concept of terrorism, religious causes of terrorism, social and economic causes, educational, cultural and media causes, terrorism and regional and global interests and the impact of terrorism.
