President Hichilema unveils Cabinet

September 7, 2021 /PRESS STATEMENT/ — President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed and sworn-in 14 Cabinet Ministers, 3 Provincial Ministers and a Senior Private Secretary.
Those sworn-in at State House this afternoon includes:

Hon. Stanley Kakubo, MP MINISTER MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Hon. Peter Chibwe Kapala, MP MINISTER MINISTRY OF ENERGY

Hon. Mike Elton Mposha, MP MINISTER MINISTRY OF WATER DEVELOPMENT AND SANITATION

Mr Alfred Chipoya has been sworn-in as Senior Private Secretary at State House.
Speaking shortly after swearing-in the office bearers, President Hichilema said the people of Zambia were highly expectant and called on the Cabinet Ministers, Provincial Ministers and the Senior Private Secretary to work extremely hard to foster national development and ensure improved livelihoods for all citizens. President Hichilema urged the Cabinet Ministers and the Provincial Ministers to work closely with the technocrats in their respective Ministries to develop and implement policies and programmes aimed at driving economic growth and development.
The President appealed to the Ministers to ensure fiscal discipline and prudent utilisation of public resources in their respective institutions and has since reechoed his commitment to stamp out grand corruption.

And the President reminded those sworn – in that he will not condone wastage and that all public resources must be accounted for.

President Hichilema further expects that the Provincial Ministers will provide leadership in the coordination and implementation of Government policies and programmes at provincial level and ensure that resources are utilized for the benefit citizens.

Meanwhile, the following Cabinet Ministers have been appointed and are expected to be sworn-in tomorrow, 8th September, 2021:

The President has also terminated the appointments of Mr Fredson Yamba as Secretary to the Treasury while Mr Felix Nkulukusa has been appointed to serve in the same capacity.
The President has further terminated the appointment of Dr Martin Mtonga as Smart Zambia National Coordinator.

President Hichilema has also designated Dr. Francis Chipimo to act as Bank of Zambia Governor following the resignation of Mr Christopher Mvunga, who at the time of his resignation was serving as Governor of the Central Bank.
