Disrupting Commercial Child Sexual Abuse Online

A significant partnership extension between the Public Interest Registry (PIR), which manages the .ORG domain, and the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), Europe’s largest hotline dedicated to removing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from the internet. This expanded initiative, sponsored by PIR, aims to disrupt criminal organisations that operate commercial CSAM websites by leveraging domain registrars. Specifically, the programme will grant domain registrars free access to IWF’s Domain Alerts program to help them quickly identify and remove domains involved in the distribution of CSAM, thereby making it more difficult for criminals to establish “brands” online.
