New Research Finds Cyberattacks Against Critical Infrastructure on the Rise, State-affiliated Groups Responsible for nearly 60%

Rockwell Automation, Inc. Which types of jobs are threatened by AI and automation?

April 28, 2023 /Economy/ — Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that is capable of generating text, images, and other content that is indistinguishable from human-created output. This technology has the potential to automate a wide range of tasks that are currently performed by humans, including customer service, data entry, and even creative writing.

The Goldman Sachs report predicts that generative AI could automate 18% of work globally, with the effects felt most deeply in advanced economies. This is because advanced economies tend to have a higher concentration of white-collar jobs, which are more susceptible to automation. Continue reading

AI could make more work for us, instead of simplifying our lives

There’s a common perception that artificial intelligence (AI) will help streamline our work. There are even fears that it could wipe out the need for some jobs altogether.

But in a study of science laboratories I carried out with three colleagues at the University of Manchester, the introduction of automated processes that aim to simplify work — and free people’s time — can also make that work more complex, generating new tasks that many workers might perceive as mundane.
