Winter DataDive weekend 2023

12 Nov 2023 – We are thrilled to let you know about our winter DataDive weekend, taking place in London on 18-19 November 2023! Right now, we’re working hard behind the scenes with our Data Ambassador volunteers and our charity partners to get the project ready for you. At the weekend, you’ll be introduced to the charities and their projects, and then you’ll get to ‘dive’ straight into the data. It’s a great way to make a difference using your data skills!

For this DataDive project, we’re partnering with three fantastic charities:

  • Herts Young Homeless exists to break the cycle of youth homelessness in Hertfordshire by providing education, advice, and support to young people and their families.
  • In2science empowers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue STEM careers through a variety of workshops, placements and career support programmes.
  • Magic Breakfast’s aim is to alleviate child hunger and poverty as a barrier to education by providing healthy breakfasts to children living with food insecurity.

We’re looking for about 60 keen DataDivers to support this project in person over the weekend. To check the location, find out more about the schedule, and other requirements for the weekend, read more about how it works.

For this DataDive weekend, we welcome all kinds of data science skills, but particularly:

  • Data, Geospatial, NLP/text, or Statistical analysis
  • Data visualisation
  • Machine learning/statistical modelling
  • Experience of data on homelessness, education, food insecurity, or poverty is a bonus
