There is no definitive answer to the question of who taught Michael Jackson the moonwalk. Jeffrey Daniel, a member of the R&B group Shalamar, claims to have taught Jackson the move in 1982. However, Jackson himself has said that he learned the moonwalk from several different people, including Daniel, Bobby Brown, and Turbo from the movie “Breakin’.” Continue reading

Harry Belafonte has died at 96.

April 25, 2023 /Entertainment/ — Harry Belafonte was an American singer, actor, and activist. He was born in New York City on March 1, 1927, and died on April 25, 2023. He was one of the most successful Caribbean-American pop stars, and he popularized the Trinbagonian Calypso musical style with an international audience in the 1950s. His breakthrough album Calypso (1956) was the first million-selling LP by a single artist. Continue reading

In 1969, after The Mothers of Invention disbanded, Frank Zappa released his groundbreaking solo debut, Hot Rats. Fusing jazz and rock, the innovative album became one of the artist’s bestselling releases, thanks to classic tracks like “Peaches En Regalia” and “Willie the Pimp.” Over the following year, in between various projects (including producing Captain Beefheart’s debut, Trout Mask Replica, and emceeing Belgium’s Festival Actuel, where Zappa met British drummer Aynsley Dunbar), he assembled a core group to lay down tracks at Los Angeles’ recently opened Record Plant. Hard Rock International will kick off the five-time Grammy® Award-winning singer Janet Jackson’s tour, “Together Again,” at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on April 14. In conjunction with her tour, and in partnership with Julien’s Auctions, the auction house to the stars, her memorabilia is on display in a public exhibition. Aligning with Janet Jackson’s birthday on May 16, the memorabilia will also be featured at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on May 8, followed by a performance at the property on May 20.
