It is not illegal to be LGBTQ

May 31, 2023 /Lifestyle/ –Uganda is a relevant country on the global scale for a number of reasons, including its strategic location in East Africa, its large population, and its natural resources. The country is also a member of the United Nations and the African Union, and it plays an important role in regional security and development.

However, Uganda’s anti-LGBTQ laws have made it a target of international criticism. In 2014, the Ugandan Parliament passed a bill that would have made same-sex sexual activity punishable by life in prison. The bill was met with widespread international condemnation, and it was eventually withdrawn. However, the country’s anti-LGBTQ laws remain in place, and LGBTQ people in Uganda continue to face discrimination and violence. Continue reading

These are the words of Mary, my mother. She was just 15 when she entered a convent in Ireland in 1950 and 34 by the time she finally managed to leave. She had been expressing doubts to her superiors since her early twenties but years of “brainwashing” and the very real fear of her and her family facing eternal damnation made breaking her vows seem impossible.

The European Union (EU) has fined Facebook parent Meta €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion)

May 22, 2023 /Business/ — The European Union (EU) has fined Facebook parent Meta $1.3 billion for transferring user data to the United States without adequate safeguards in place. The fine is the largest ever imposed by the EU for data protection violations.

The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires companies to obtain consent from individuals before transferring their data outside of the EU. Meta argued that it had obtained consent from users, but the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) found that this consent was not valid. Continue reading

How high is the pyramid

The pyramid you are referring to is the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is the largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis in Egypt. It is also the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Great Pyramid was built for the Fourth Dynasty pharaoh Khufu over a period of 20 years, and it originally stood at 146.5 meters (481 feet) tall. However, over the centuries, the pyramid has lost some of its height due to erosion and the removal of its outer casing stones. Today, the Great Pyramid stands at 137 meters (449.5 feet) tall.
